Cummins Inc. Electronic Systems Product Specialist in Pune, India

DESCRIPTION

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate electronic application and systems problems, understand causal mechanisms, recommend appropriate actions, own problem resolution, and document results with guidance from more experienced team members.

  • Apply and improve electronic application and systems development processes and tools, including system specification, modeling and simulation, calibration, Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), and troubleshooting.

  • Obtain input from customers, technical and product teams, manufacturing engineers, supplier partners, and other stakeholders to deliver information and recommendations that lead to quality product decisions.

  • Make decisions in the areas of electronic and electrical system design, requirements, calibration, and test that impact the quality and performance of calibrated subsystems and feature classes of electronic subsystems.

  • Review the work of less-experienced developers/testers to ensure robust, reusable, and efficient design.

  • Provide independent leadership of smaller business impact projects or ownership of complex components, products, systems, or services with greater elements of ambiguity.

  • Lead the development and improvement of work processes and systems across a functional discipline area within a business unit site.

  • Coordinate and direct work amongst technicians and temporary student employees, and assist in the transfer of knowledge to less experienced engineers.

  • Provide support and guidance to influence technical direction within a project team and continue to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.

  • Operate as a recognized specialist in a discipline or product area within the immediate team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Qualifications:

  • College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an appropriate STEM field is required.

  • A post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.

  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Competencies:

  • Design and Application of Mechatronics Systems: Specifies electronic hardware and interconnections that measure and control systems; applies electronic hardware and interconnections in Cummins' products.

  • Machine Integration and Optimization: Combines various parts or sub-systems into a whole to achieve the desired output; applies Cummins' installation requirements to ensure optimization of performance, reliability, cost, and quality.

  • Product Function Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis: Utilizes computational tools and methods to predict product function capabilities.

  • Product Problem Solving: Solves product problems using a process that protects the customer and implements robust, data-based solutions.

  • Product Verification and Validation Management: Develops product systems validation plans, negotiates product requirements, and evaluates test results to verify product capability.

  • System Requirements Engineering: Translates stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements and tracks the status of requirements throughout the system lifecycle.

  • Systems Thinking: Defines the system of interest, analyzes linkages and interactions between elements, and devises modifications to produce desired effects.

  • Builds Networks: Effectively builds formal and informal relationship networks inside and outside the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills and Experience:

  • Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required, with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.

  • Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred.

  • Experience in developing the simulation including sub-systems interfaces and I/O interfaces and preparation of algorithms for train functions.

  • Able to prepare or review simulation specification for rail application.

  • Experience in Labview simulation or similar simulation tool preferred.

  • Understanding of train system and functionalities alongwith the test execution at the system level.

  • Must have user-level knowledge of trains and their sub-systems, along with significant work experience in this area.
