DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Senior Payroll Tax Accountant to join our team specializing in Finance for Cummins Inc.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Ensuring Accurate Financial Reporting : By analyzing, recording, and reporting accounting transactions promptly, you'll ensure the financial data is accurate and up to date, supporting informed decision-making.
Maintaining Financial Integrity : Preparing general ledger entries and account reconciliations will help maintain the integrity of financial records, ensuring they are precise and reliable.
Producing Comprehensive Financial Statements : Creating balance sheets, profit and loss statements, consolidated financial statements, and other reports will provide a clear picture of the organization's financial health.
Facilitating Effective Communication : Responding to inquiries from management, auditors, and other stakeholders regarding financial results and special reporting requests will ensure transparency and effective communication.
Strengthening Internal Controls : Regularly reviewing and developing new internal controls will enhance the organization's financial security and compliance with regulations.
Implementing Best Practices : Analyzing current procedures and recommending changes will lead to the adoption of best practice accounting procedures, improving efficiency and accuracy.
Protecting Confidential Information : By keeping information confidential, you'll safeguard the organization's value and maintain trust with stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Conduct Thorough Risk Analysis : Evaluate business processes to identify risks and internal control gaps, develop and implement process improvements, and create risk management plans to address identified risks.
Perform Insightful Financial Analysis : Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, opportunities, and risks, providing valuable insights to stakeholders to drive business improvements and ensure the integrity of financial data.
Strengthen Financial Internal Controls : Assess internal controls and develop remediation plans to mitigate financial reporting risks, ensuring the organization can respond effectively to changing business needs.
Understand and Apply Financial Regulations : Evaluate applicable financial regulations to ensure transactions comply with requirements and educate stakeholders on the implications of these regulations to maintain compliance.
Excel in Financial Reporting : Analyze and summarize financial data to support business decisions, prepare and present financial information in compliance with regulations, and collaborate with stakeholders to drive financial performance aligned with organizational goals.
Master Technical Accounting : Evaluate and research transactions to ensure compliance with accounting regulations and company policies, providing accurate and reliable financial reporting.
Apply US GAAP : Understand and apply US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles to record transactions in compliance with standards and communicate the implications to stakeholders with varying levels of financial knowledge.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
Certified Payroll Professional, Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Chartered Accountant or similar certification is preferred.
Experience:
- Intermediate level of relevant professional work experience in the field of study required.
Additional Responsibilities:
This position is a supporting role within the payroll tax team.
North American Payroll tax experience is required (extensive knowledge of withholding and unemployment taxes). Data integrity and analytical aptitude are needed for the role.
Candidate must be able to:
Be a Senior level North American payroll tax professional (5 to 8 years of experience)
Work together as a team to ensure proper compliance.
Participate in quarter-end and year-end reconciliations.
Have extensive experience in North American payroll tax research, North American payroll tax processing and compliance.
Resolve tax notices with ADP Smart Compliance.
Preparing North American Payroll Tax audit documentation as assigned.
Research Liens and offsets resolutions for federal and all states and local agencies.
Complete Daily North American Payroll tax funding and reconciliations.
Complete the validation and reconciliation of North American payroll tax processes.
Process Quarter end and year end process; including audits, final validations.
Proven extensive Canadian Tax Experience – Fixing payroll errors, reviewing and analyzing T-4, T4M.
Register for withholding and unemployment accounts with state and local agencies.
Answer employees W4 requests and questions regarding their tax applications.
Respond to cases and tickets per established Service level agreements (SLA).
Respond to internal stakeholders with a customer focused mind.
Work North American payroll tax correction errors as needed.
Available during busy season to work (QE and YE).
Testing new tax forms and implemented platforms.
Preferred GlobalView SAP experience for payroll purposes. - But not required
Work on projects as assigned.
