DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Product Validation Engineering Technician to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Lakewood, NY.

Job Summary:

Creates and maintains specifications (drawings and models) of Cummins products per company, industry, national, and international standards, while positively impacting the organization's performance.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Ensuring Model and Drawing Quality: By meticulously reviewing and validating models and drawings, you'll help maintain high standards and prevent costly errors.

Creating and Maintaining Product Specifications: Utilizing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), you'll ensure that product specifications are precise and meet design requirements.

Utilizing CAD Data Management Tools: By effectively using CAD tools for configuration control, you'll maintain the integrity and security of design data.

Applying Standards: Ensuring that all work adheres to company, industry, national, and international standards will help maintain consistency and quality across projects.

Processing Engineering Work Requests: Efficiently handling internal engineering work requests will streamline workflows and support timely project completion.

Engaging with Functional Areas: Collaborating with various departments will foster a cohesive work environment and ensure that all functional needs are met.

Maintaining Standards and Practices: Participating in the upkeep of quality standards and practices will contribute to continuous improvement and excellence.

Participating in Drawing Quality Reviews: Your involvement in drawing quality reviews will help identify and rectify issues early, ensuring high-quality deliverables.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

Master CAD Modeling and Analysis: Develop proficiency in creating CAD models that adhere to Cummins' standards, enabling accurate system-level analyses like Dimensional Variation Analysis and Finite Element Analysis.

Deep Understanding of Mechanical Systems: Acquire and apply comprehensive knowledge of mechanical systems to design innovative and robust concepts that meet both Cummins and customer expectations across all lifecycle stages.

Create Detailed Specifications: Ensure your specifications are complete and precise, using solid models, configured engineering bill of materials, and detailed drawings that communicate effectively across functions. Adhere to relevant standards to define part specifications accurately.

Manage Product Configuration and Changes: Establish and maintain the integrity of product baselines, efficiently track and control changes from concept to obsolescence, and communicate these changes effectively through work requests.

Effective Communication: Develop and deliver clear, multi-mode communications tailored to the unique needs of different audiences, ensuring everyone is on the same page.

Quality Decision-Making: Make timely and well-informed decisions that keep projects moving forward, even under challenging circumstances.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

• High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.

• Regionally applicable certification or two-year Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.

• This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

• Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

Compensation:

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The

final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s

qualifications and experience, where appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS

Product Validation Engineering Technicians support or lead the development and modifications for Cummins engine components/subsystems to ensure the continual improvement of engine reliability and durability for specific customer needs. Daily work and projects can expose Technicians to all aspects of the business including Design, Testing, Manufacturing, Assembly, Marketing, Purchasing, Quality and Service. This role will be exposed to a variety of work including product design, fixture design, Engineering testing (including fuji tests, torque to fail, DOE’s, etc.), running VPCRs, component photo documentation, Implementation support and cross functional discussions (plant and corporate based).

Specific Candidate Requirements:

  • Able to complete complex routine work involving multiple stake holders

  • Drives to complete tasks on time without adversely affecting quality or safety

  • Ability to compile, analyze, and communicate information from complex systems or databases to drive decisions

  • Effective communication is necessary using multi-mode communications across cross-functional teams

  • Able to overcome most issues through initiative, learning, knowledge, and networking across teams

  • Experience directly applicable to the role preferred

  • Applicant to be self-driven and actively seeks new ways to grow and be challenged

  • Mid-level computer skills are necessary (use of Microsoft applications, including Office, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
