DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Technical Information Systems Specialist to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Columbus, IN location.

RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Investigate Technical Opportunities and Challenges: Understand causal mechanisms, recommend appropriate actions, own problem resolution, and document results to address technical information and knowledge-based infrastructure opportunities and challenges.
Design and Support Information Processes: Develop and support processes such as Engineering Standard Work (ESW), Value Package Introduction (VPI), change management, and data repositories like technical information libraries to meet the needs of practitioners within the technical function.
Collaborate and Negotiate: Obtain input and negotiate with a broad variety of technical practitioners to deliver new and revised processes and tools that enhance the function's capability to produce high-quality drawings and specifications.
Make Informed Decisions : Plan and implement new and revised processes, work instructions, software, and computing solutions to improve the technical quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the technical function.
Lead Projects Independently: Provide independent leadership for smaller business impact projects or own complex systems or services with full accountability to the project team.
Execute Established and Emerging Processes: Deliver independent execution of established and emerging work processes and systems while continuing to develop technology or product knowledge.
Develop and Improve Work Processes: Lead the development and improvement of work processes and systems across a functional discipline area within a business unit site.
Coordinate and Direct Work: Manage work amongst technicians and temporary student employees, assist in transferring knowledge to less experienced engineers, and provide support and guidance to influence technical direction within a project team.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or appropriate STEM field is required.
Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Certification Doc Team is responsible for developing and delivering technical engineering documents for Cummins engine and aftertreatment systems that fully describe the complex logic, performance, and design of many systems. These documents are submitted to various agencies around the world for certification to allow Cummins to sell engines in those regions. The team develops systems, processes, procedures, tools and workflows that support Cummins products globally. This role is vital to Cummins' success in meeting the requirements of the regulators.
Certification Doc Generation
• Builds Certification Documents to support certification efforts globally
• Able to follow complex work instructions
• Troubleshoots and debugs issues found during builds
• Performs verification and validation of Certification Documents
• Facilitates communication across stakeholders to resolve complex issues
Certification Doc Tools and Process Support
• Experience with tool releases. Roll out, UAT, Regression Testing, Infant Care
• Strong analytical skills relating to operational compliance activities and tools
• Supports and leads operational improvement projects
• Collaborates with global teams for Certification Document development, coordination, and improvement
• Supports stakeholders to ensure robust documentation standards
• Assists in process improvement through identifying potential opportunities to refine workflow/tools, developing and testing solutions
• Basic understanding systems integration and engineering workflow
