Responsible for environmental compliance related activities. Applies specialized knowledge of engineering and/or project management principles and practices across various areas and projects by interpreting, communicating and ensuring all environmental regulations and standards are adhered to as they impact the company products, processes, components or facilities.
We are looking for an Off Highway Certification and Compliance Engineer to join our team in Columbus, IN.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Technical Expertise : Apply your deep technical knowledge to complex components and projects, ensuring regulatory compliance and program success.
Cross-Functional Collaboration : Act as a key contributor, driving cross-functional project success and fostering collaboration among various stakeholders.
Environmental Compliance : Analyze and communicate critical information related to environmental compliance to internal stakeholders, enhancing organizational awareness and adherence.
Training and Meetings : Identify, establish, and facilitate meetings and trainings on compliance, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
Project Leadership : Lead small projects or portions of larger projects, guiding teams towards achieving environmental performance and compliance goals.
Process Improvement : Work with subject matter experts to improve compliance processes, identify opportunities for common processes and tools, and drive environmental performance enhancements.
Corrective Actions : Support the definition and execution of corrective actions, ensuring timely resolution of compliance issues and continuous improvement.
Mentorship and Knowledge Transfer : Coach and mentor less experienced compliance personnel, sharing your expertise and fostering professional growth within the team.

Environmental Regulatory Compliance - Champions compliance with environmental regulatory requirements imposed on industry by local, state, provincial, national, and international organizations including air emissions, waste water discharges, natural resource consumption, waste generation, spill prevention and reporting, and emergency response.
Environmental Standards and Regulations - Analyzes technical and legal documents, enabling interpretation and further communication of content resulting in clear definition of requirements to the business; works in conjunction with subject matter experts and business units to develop strategies and plans for meeting requirements; information to be shared broadly with cross functional groups within Cummins.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
- College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or related technical or scientific field required.
Experience:
Intermediate level of relevant work experience required. Experience across organizations and global regions preferred.
Knowledge of the function being worked in preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Responsibilities:
Certification Engineers are responsible to lead certification & compliance for assigned program(s). This work ensures our products meet legal requirements for sale in all 50 states. Proactive communication with the regulatory agencies builds trust in the relationship. Champions compliance with environmental regulatory requirements imposed on industry by regulatory agencies.
Basic understanding on how the engine and aftertreatment system operates
Basic knowledge of engine systems, software and tools
Apply the engineering guidelines to proposed software features to evaluate acceptability
Basic understanding of emissions and compliance related regulatory requirements for North American market
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation for this role is $8,900/month (subject to applicable withholdings), plus benefits such as health and wellness while in the program.
